Hilton Newcastle Gateshead have sponsored several events for young carers over the last couple of years. One of our own team members was a young carer and brought Carers Trust Tyne and Wear to our attention during one of our Charity Committee meetings. It’s such a great team. These young carers have so much responsibility for people so young and the Trust really helps them to relax and remind them it’s still ok to be children and have fun!

We’ve sponsored several young carer events by providing refreshments, such as supporting a trip to Flamingo Land where we gave packed lunches to all the young carers. We’ve also have taken the time out to reward the staff who put so much time and energy into the Trust with an afternoon tea here at the Hilton.

Working with the Carers Trust Tyne and Wear has really helped bring the Trust onto more people’s radar in the hotel. I think that, unless you go through it or are close with someone who is a young carer, you don’t really think that children so young do so much for other members of their family and have so much responsibility at such a young age. We have loved helping Carers Trust Tyne and Wear and look forward to doing so in the future as well.
